Challenge
Franklin, a vibrant community just south of Nashville, is home to 12 parks, with Liberty Park being the largest. However, the park lacks essential features such as ADA-compliant equipment, after-dark accessibility, and the integration of modern technology like interactive media that could positively influence the community. These gaps presented a significant opportunity to redesign the space and better serve the growing population in Williamson County.

What makes Liberty Park so special?
Features
The cultural blend of Franklin’s rich history and the new families settling in recently developed areas calls for a welcoming third space for the entire family. This modern approach will foster deeper connections within local neighborhoods and attract visitors to the area.
The park has the potential to be transformed into an inviting low maintenance, solar powered public space that offers shaded seating areas and designated play spaces for children. It can also incorporate universal equipment to ensure accessibility for all individuals, provide well-lit walkways for safety during evening hours, and serve as a hub where community members can learn about new opportunities and resources available in the area.
